Buying cheap
computer may be your dream but, at the same time it can be confusing,
sometimes unpleasant experience. Why? Because of the nature of the product.
Shortly - laptop computer is not much alike desktop, it is quite different.

mainly refer here to the second-hand laptops. Not necessarily they |

always will be "second hand", some of the laptop computer |

manufacturers recently have done very distinctive move towards low |

budge buyers. Well, that's the market rule, after awhile the "newest" |
|
eventually will find its use among an average customer. |

It happens to the laptop computers right now. Look several years back.
Do you remember that laptops were so expensive that you could buy several
desktops for the price of one laptop. Oh, you can do the same thing in these
days but, the prices in overall laptop market are heading towards the low end.
And, of course, it is good!
So, you've decided to buy cheap laptop computer. What to look for at
first place? Obviously, the exterior. The first look at the unit should be
telling you in what overall condition is your prospective laptop. Don't be
scared off by some blemishes and scratches on the body, actually, if it is a
off-lease or corporate unit, most likely it will have some, that's normal.
People tend to use sticky notes, and even sometimes they write on the computers
but, be cool here - nobody can damage the laptop, writing on it, nor the sticky
residue could interfere with the internet connection.
All the unpleasant appearances always counted to the seller's side, and
you can get a pretty good discount on such unit, even tough, it could perform
very well on other tests. I would rather buy a stained with blemishes and
scratched on the case unit than one with blurred image on the screen, or with a
strange sound coming from the inside.
Display - even on cheap laptop
computer you want your display look as good as it is practically possible. Of
course! This is what we are buying our laptops for. "To look", to look at the
screen. So the next very important thing is - look very closely at the screen.
Becoming obsolete, but still in
use in cheap laptop computer is dual scan (passive matrix) technology for the
LCD screen. The sign of irreparable damage could be a solid black line (or many
lines) going in vertical or horizontal directions. That is caused by failed
transistor inside the matrix. There is nothing you can do to fix this thing. Try
to avoid it. Active matrix display is comprised of many and many thousands of
individual transistors, therefore damaging one of them would not bring such
devastating consequences. You would be looking at screen with randomly scattered
sparkles, which not necessary be black. If you are not intended to be in
Christmas mood all year round - keep off such otherwise entertaining thing. You
can't really repair LCD display, and replacing it would not be a cost effective,
as manufacturer's price for replacement would be about 50, and even up to the
70% of the overall laptop price. So look very closely!
Battery -
cheap laptop computer (especially
if it is a "second hand") will often have a bad battery.
What is important to know - all the batteries have
a certain amount of charge-discharge cycles which might be already drawn out or
it could be the case that the battery is to old to hold the charge. Usual life
span count in charge-discharge cycles for the most commonly used in laptop
computers lithium-ion batteries is approximately 400 times. Be cautious, it
might look new, but actually have remaining only a few working cycles. The most
obvious sign of old battery is decreasing working time after full recharge,
battery will lose its capacity - the most important parameter, after voltage and
amperage.
